Terrytigre,
Thank you! The Angband style diagram works great to demonstrate the issue, however I was also able to see the image on google drive this time and this is definitely a bug in the line of sight algorithm. At least now I have a concrete example to use as a starting point for solving this.
Thanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantI can’t see the images, but from your description that works as intended. Closed gates, unlike doors, do not block line of sight or line of effect, they just prevent creatures from moving through them (unless they are incorporeal). I suspect what is causing the appearance of passing through walls is if a line of sight/effect exists from one part of a square to another part of a square, it can be considered to have line of sight/effect, but when firing the power, the animation travels from the center of one square to the center of the other square, which sometimes involves clipping some corners.
If you can re-post the links to those images or give me access to the google drive file, I would like to see themThanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantTerrytigre,
I love it! Avoiding ever letting the enemy have a chance to attack you is a highly effective strategy!

AmonAmonParticipantTerrytigre,
Wow that is very impressive – it sounds like you are very close to beating permadeath! Some of the most dangerous monsters are not dangerous due to the damage the deal, but rather the effects they inflict.

AmonAmonParticipantTerrytigre,
Thank you for being observant and raising this issue. In this case, it is working as intended. Here are the details:
If you get a temporary buff to your constitution, your maximum HP will be increased, however your current HP will not change. You can heal or regenerate up to the new maximum. If the temporary boost in constitution is removed, your maximum HP is reduced, but your current HP remains unchanged, even if it is higher than your maximum. While your HP is higher than your maximum, you cannot regenerate further or be healed further, but you don’t automatically lose the HP. This gives you the option to buff again without having to heal up again. I think you will appreciate when a buff wears off in the middle of a fight but doesn’t leave you suddenly at low HP.
Warning: If you change equipment while your HP is above the maximum, your HP will be set back to the maximum, which prevents exploits like wearing something with high CON and healing to max, then switching it out again.
Thanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantI see, it is because the animation goes to the center of your square, but an attacker can hit a target even if they can only see the corner of the target’s square. The rules of line of sight do not always guarantee that someone who sees a target can also be seen by that target.

AmonAmonParticipantAh I see. That does mean it could be worth having a few powers or items that can clear paralyzation. Of course, Summon Golem clears everything, but I can see how that could potentially have tactical disadvantages if your Golem is in a good position or has lots of buffs.
Thanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantParalyzation is scary by design. It is especially deadly when first encountered.
Once you are paralyzed, you can’t take any actions so you could not use a potion that cures you even if you had one, however there are some things you can do to reduce your vulnerability to being paralyzed or reduce the time you are paralyzed:
1) Raise your saving throw as much as possible and try to get skills that give you more chances to save. There are several options for this both in the skill trees and from items. Hint: Quick Recovery is highly effective as getting a saving throw at the beginning of your turn is a HUGE advantage since it means you will be able to act immediately after making such a save rather than having to hope you don’t get paralyzed again before you next turn.
2) Warriors have a Master Of Body Discipline Skill that gives resistance to paralyzation
3) There are items that give resistance and even immunity to paralyzation
4) Use tactical movement and monster detection scrolls to avoid letting monsters that can paralyze you get an attack on you.I hope these ideas are helpful.

AmonAmonParticipantWow! Thanks for the great strategy guide! This is very well written!

AmonAmonParticipantAs Honk says, you can only go past the second level once you have completed the quest to kill Sumrata. Then, when you return to level 2, the stairs will be there.
Thanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantIt is a great idea to carry those potions around at least until you find some other protection from those effects. You can find equipment eventually that can protect you from stat drains of that sort.

AmonFebruary 25, 2020 at 7:22 am in reply to: One piece of armor that sets AC, instead of adds to AC #305AmonParticipantIt sounds like you figured out that heavy armor can only give agility bonus in certain situations. Namely if you have the Heavy Armor Specialization and your strength is at least twice the weight of the armor.
As for why it gives 15 instead of 17, is it possible you have a penalty to agility when not wearing items? If you can screen shot your conditions and your stats page, along with the item stats that would help me to figure out how it all adds up.

AmonAmonParticipantHe is by far the most powerful creature in the game, but he can be beaten. You will need to pay close attention to which damage types are effective against him. I recommend radiant damage, but you can try out powers that deal different types of damage and see what works. You can also try using Amplify damage to lower his resistance to the elemental damage types (fire, cold, acid, lightning). What powers and skills do you have currently? What damage types have you tried?
Here are some ideas:
Take the skills in the Necromancy discipline tree (Necromantic Mana, Necromantic Strength, Necromantic Power). This will give you a huge boost to damage for each creature you have killed in the last 10 turns (which at this level could translate into more like 20 – 30 opportunities for you to act since you probably have a speed between 20 and 30 by now). You can rack up huge kill counts in the vaults (the red areas that are packed with creatures). Chain Reaction or Chain Lightning are a couple of good options for racking up massive kill counts quickly. It takes some careful planning to do it in a way that doesn’t kill you. Ghost Walker is nice for being able to pop in and out of walls to escape from dangerous situations. Be careful not to try teleporting when near Drazul or when near an Anchoring rune, as you will get debuffs and the teleport will fail. Buff up with as many potions as possible (which ones you need depends on your equipment). I highly recommend Hidden Light as it allows you to still use a light source with potentially very useful bonuses, without having to worry about giving away your position to every creature in line of sight. Supernatural Recovery and Supernatural Luck, along with some items that give bonuses to saving throws will be very important for preventing you from being stun locked. Some of these things you may have figured out already since you got this far. Thanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantSte,
Unfortunately at this time there is no way to load the games without that data.
Thanks for playing!
AmonAmonParticipantSte,
Is this a new iphone that you transferred data onto from your old phone? If so, what process did you use to transfer data from the old phone to the new phone? Did you use iTunes or iCloud? It may be that you did not transfer the data necessary to decrypt games saved on your old phone. In order to open games saved on another phone, your new phone would need the old phone’s keychain data. Depending on how you performed the transfer, this may not have happened. Thanks for playing!
